National Limousine Association Launches New Toolkit to Combat Illegal Operators

Marlton, NJApril 9, 2025 — The National Limousine Association (NLA) is proud to announce the release of a new resource designed to empower its members in addressing the ongoing challenge of illegal operators in the chauffeured transportation industry. The NLA Public Relations Toolkit: Combatting Illegal Operators provides actionable guidance, advocacy templates, and best practices to help operators protect their businesses and ensure a level playing field in the markets they serve.

This comprehensive toolkit is a direct result from the Association Summit in Las Vegas where the Long Island Limousine Association shared their impressive strategy and practical approach to making a difference on this concerning issue.

Members can utilize this resource to take proactive steps in identifying and reporting unlicensed or non-compliant operators—particularly in high-risk areas such as airports and high-traffic event venues. Resources include templates for communicating with local enforcement agencies and regulators, sample letters for outreach to airport authorities, and tips for building relationships with municipal officials.

“This toolkit is an important step in our ongoing efforts to uphold the integrity of the industry and support our members in every region,” said Brett Barenholtz, President of the National Limousine Association. “By equipping our members with the right tools and knowledge, we are strengthening our collective voice and reinforcing our commitment to safe, legal, and professional transportation services.”

In addition to supporting individual NLA members, this toolkit is particularly valuable for local, state, and regional association members. These organizations play a critical role in local advocacy, and the toolkit offers scalable solutions that can be tailored to meet specific market needs.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide such a valuable resource to our membership,” stated Kyle Hammerschmidt, CAE, Executive Director of the NLA. “While this is not a new issue, its prevalence seems to have increased recently. Kudos to the Long Island Limousine Association on their ongoing efforts and for allowing us to share many of their successful tactics.”

The Combatting Illegal Operators Toolkit is now available to all current NLA members here (login required). For more information about the NLA, visit www.limo.org.
